August 27-29 looks like being a hot weekend for anyone heading to the Reading and Leeds Festival.
Organisers in Leeds have now announced their venue for Sunday - the Festival Republic Stage, Bramham Park where Coldplay, Muse and the Arctic Monkeys made their debuts. More recently, Florence and the Machine, Glasvegas, Hot Chip, La Roux and Foals performed there, marking it out as THE place to spot the up and coming talent.
Expect to see an awesome new tide of artists this year. Watch out for Marina & the Diamonds, Ash, Irish Heroes and - already making giant waves in the industry - British Sea Power!
With Mike Snow having to pull out, The Joy Formidable FROM North Wales are holding court on the NME/Radio 1 Stage instead with their inimitable mix of art rock and indie. Referred to by one enthusiast as 'primal/epic/grunge/rock', they were more sedately described by The Guardian as 'one to watch'.
Bad news - weekend tickets have sold out, but check out the Leeds Festival Site and you might just get lucky! Remember there are no on site tickets on sale at Leeds, just a location for viagogo and overseas customers.
If you’re jammy enough to make it this year, be aware of certain rules introduced in 2009:
Aerosols over 250ml and gas canisters are banned from the site, so if you’re self-catering, use disposable BBQs, solid fuel or Trianga type stoves.
Remember, the event is for over 18s only. Wristbands are optional but will save you having to carry ID.
After the World Cup fiasco, you might not want to bring any flags – which is just as well because they’re banned too in case they block the view of people behind.
If you are flying into Leeds for the event and looking for airport parking, then look at what services LCS Airport Parking has to offer.
