Lifeline route between London Gatwick and Leeds Bradford celebrates year anniversary

Flybe, the UK's number one domestic airline, are celebrating the first anniversary of its daily service from Leeds Bradford to London Gatwick. To mark this milestone, the airline is offering double points on its already generous Rewards4All loyalty programme up to the 6th July for flights booked to travel on or before 26th March 2011.

The three-times daily service has proved to be a key link between Yorkshire and the South East and has been a roaring success since its introduction in June last year soon after BMI pulled its Leeds Bradford to London Heathrow service. Utilising Flybe's environmentally efficient, state-of-the-art Bombardier Q400 aircraft, the route has carried more than 60,000 passengers between Leeds Bradford and London Gatwick in the last 12 months, providing a key business link between Yorkshire and the capital, facilitating onward travel across the whole of the South East of England.

Commenting on the anniversary, Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer of Flybe said: "Air services from London Gatwick to Leeds Bradford are of great strategic importance to Yorkshire and the North of England in general, so we're delighted to be celebrating the first anniversary of our service connecting the two airports. We know from passenger feedback how important this link is for business and leisure passengers alike in Yorkshire and this has been reflected in the performance of our service in its first year.

"Flybe is committed to meeting the needs of its passengers and is pleased to be able to report such a strong performance for the first year of the service. Flybe is proud to bring convenient and low cost air travel to the regions, and we look forward to Leeds Bradford continuing to play an integral part in our business operations in the coming years. By way of thank you to our loyal passengers, we are pleased to be offering double points on our already generous Rewards4All loyalty programme up to the 6th July for flights booked to travel on or before 26th March 2011."
